How long does it take to get certified?
- Our SCUBA certification is done in three separate parts: Academic, confined water, and open water. First, you will complete the academic portion through eLearning and classroom sessions. Next, you will spend around 10-12 hours in the pool at our facility in Riverton, Utah. These confined water sessions consist of mandatory skills and safety information. Lastly, you will complete 2 open water sessions: 4 dives over the duration of 2 days. These open water dives are typically located at the Homestead Crater in Midway, Utah.
- The basic certification (Open Water Diver) typically takes 4 to 6 days, including classroom learning, confined water (pool) training, and open-water dives.
How do I stay active each year as a diver?

What gear do I need for my class?
- For your SCUBA class, you’ll need a mask, fins, and a snorkel. These are the essential pieces of gear that will help you get the most out of your training. And as a student, you can enjoy 10% off your purchase when you buy your gear! Dive into savings and start your adventure with the right equipment!
- Visit us in store to get professionally fitted for all your SCUBA, snorkel, and swim gear. We carry a vast variety of brands that will elevate your aquatic experience. We would be happy to help you get all the gear you need for your upcoming class or trip! Students that are signed up for a class or are in a class currently, receive an in store discount. We also price match.
Where will my Open Water dives be?
Your Open Water dives will take place in one of the following locations:
- The Homestead Crater in Midway
- Blue Lake Reservoir in Wendover
- Mountain Point Hot Springs in Bluffdale
- Sand Hollow Reservoir
Each of these unique dive sites offers a great environment to complete your certification dives.

How long does my SCUBA certification last?
- Your SCUBA certification is lifelong! Once you’ve completed your training and received your certification, it’s valid for life. However, if you haven’t been diving in a while, it’s a good idea to take a refresher course to brush up on your skills and ensure you’re comfortable before your next dive. Safe diving, always!
What agency do you guys certify through?
- We certify through SDI (Scuba Diving International), a world-recognized agency known for its high-quality training programs. With SDI, you’ll be trained to the highest standards, ensuring you’re ready to dive safely anywhere around the globe!
- Recognized as a member of the United States Recreational Scuba Training Council (RSTC) and is recognized internationally.
How warm/deep is the pool?
- Our pool is 3 feet on one side, 4 feet on the other, and drops straight down to 14 feet in the middle. The water is a comfortable 90°F, so no wetsuit is needed to stay comfortable while diving.
When does my E-learning need to be done?
- Your e-learning must be completed by the last night of your certification course. Be sure to finish all modules before the final session to ensure you’re fully prepared and can get the most out of your new dive education.
Do you guys rent gear?
- Yes, we offer a full range of rental gear, including BCDs, regulators, tanks, 7mm wetsuits, weights, and dive computers. We also have different rental packages available if you’re planning a dive trip. Let us know your needs, and we’ll help you get fully equipped for your adventure!

My mask is fogging up, what should I do?
- To prevent your mask from fogging up, you should clean it with a pre-cleaner before your dive to remove any residual oils or dirt. Then, use defog drops each time you dive to keep your mask clear. We offer both pre-cleaners and defog drops in store to help ensure your visibility stays crystal clear throughout your dive.
My ears won’t equalize, what should I do?
- If you’re having trouble equalizing your ears, we recommend trying ear plugs designed for diving, as they can help your ears equalize slowly with the pressure. We would be more than happy to size you for these. We also sell ear drops that can help clear out any water after scuba diving.
Can I gift a certification course to someone?
- Yes, you can! We offer gift cards that can be used toward the purchase of any of our scuba certification courses or equipment. It’s an excellent way to give the gift of a unique and unforgetting experience.
What are the different Scuba certification levels?
Option A:
The main scuba certification levels are:
- Open Water: The foundational course for beginner divers, where you learn basic diving skills.
- Advanced Open Water: Builds on your Open Water certification with more advanced diving techniques and deeper dives.
- Rescue Diver: Focuses on developing the skills to manage dive emergencies and assist other divers in distress.
- Nitrox: Teaches you how to safely use enriched air (nitrox) for longer dive times and reduced nitrogen absorption.
- Specialty Courses: A range of specialized courses, such as underwater photography, wreck diving, or deep diving, that allow you to focus on specific interests and expand your skills.
Each level prepares you for more challenging and exciting dive opportunities!
Option B:
The main scuba certification levels are:
- Open Water: The entry-level certification that allows you to dive independently with a buddy.
- Advanced Open Water: Expands your skills and knowledge with deeper dives and specialty training.
- Rescue Diver: Teaches you how to manage diving emergencies and assist other divers in distress.
- Nitrox: Focuses on diving with enriched air, allowing for longer bottom times and reduced nitrogen absorption.
- Specialty Courses: A variety of specialized courses, such as underwater photography, wreck diving, and night diving, to enhance your diving expertise in specific areas.
Each level builds upon the skills and knowledge gained in the previous one, allowing you to explore more of the underwater world safely.
How old do I need to get SCUBA certified?
- Must be ago 10 to get scuba certified
- Scuba diving is generally safe for people aged 10 and older. The minimum age for recreational diving certification (such as PADI Open Water) is typically 10 years old, but there are some junior certification programs for younger divers.
Can I Scuba Dive if I have a medical condition?

- It depends on your specific condition. You will need to complete a medical questionnaire before diving. If you answer “yes” to any of the questions, you will be required to have a doctor sign off on your ability to dive safely. This ensures that you’re fit to dive and helps prevent any health risks while underwater.
How deep can I dive with my certification?
The depth you can dive depends on your certification level:
- Open Water Diver: Typically up to 18 meters (60 feet)
- Advanced Open Water Diver: Up to 30 meters (100 feet)
- Deep Diving specialty: Up to 40 meters (130 feet) More experienced divers with technical training can go deeper, but these depths require special training and equipment.

Do you offer snorkel classes?
- We offer snorkeling lessons upon request! There are many tips and tricks on how to snorkel efficiently and confidently. Join one of our classes to learn all of the basic skills so that you feel comfortable in the water.
